Over the weekend of 11th-13th November, Leaside held a trip away for the young members to Hindleap.
We haven’t been in a few years, and it was great fun this time around. Leaving on the Friday, we arrived at the centre in time for a dinner of burger and chips. The Saturday and Sunday were fully packed with challenging (and muddy!) activities, including trapeze (or leap of faith), a high zip wire, an obstacle course and team co-operation challenges, as well as a series of dark and wet tunnels, requiring us to belly crawl through a maze of pitch black, underground tunnels, and then crawl again through tunnels full of dirty, cold, and rotten smelling, stagnant water which made it all the more fun.
Our trip away was lead by Leaside’s newest instructor Bryan Fennell who brought an incredible variety of games to be played in the evenings. From table caving, to chair balancing and swan stretching, everyone was pushed to their limits trying to achieve Bryan’s new and exciting games.
These challenges provided great opportunity to overcome our fears and apprehensions, and despite a few mina injuries along the way, everyone continued to partake and all of us immensely enjoyed the weekend.
Thank you to Bryan, Eilish and Sarah, as well as all the staff at Hindleap for our active weekend away.
