Leaside wins Gold at London Youth Games

5 young people from Leaside competed in this year’s London Youth Games.

Harvey Donaldson and Noah Dembele both won Gold. Maia Wallace-Loizou won two Silvers in the kayak sprint and the slalom and Kim Hollman won a Bronze medal.
Congratulations to all who competed!

Leaside racers also took part in the annual inter-club Nottingham racing regatta in June.

Everyone was welcome to race as long as they take part in sprint kayak training and were deemed fit enough on the day! This inclusivity resulted in many more young people taking part and gaining experience at a large racing event such as Nottingham.

There were great racing conditions on the day and one new young member, Tarik Yakan, took to the water with confidence and produced some well-deserved results. Noah Dembele won in the boys A K2 1000m race and Kim Hollman made the final 1 in boys D K1 500m. Maia Wallace-Loizou also did well in the girls B.

It was a successful regatta for the club and everyone is looking forward to the next regatta, hopefully improving their times for September.
